What do you do when your kids only want Mommy and are actually hurtful towards Daddy?

I'm a stay-home mom and my three babies (all in diapers and under age three) are extremely attached to me. I love it but I wish they would be that way with Daddy too. When he tries to kiss them they are actually rude to him. When he tries to read them stories, they yell and they only want Mommy--for EVERYTHING. He's a very loving and gentle father, and this is really beginning to hurt his feelings. The only thing I can think of is he is hardly ever alone with them, so since I'm ALWAYS there, they go to me for everything. He spends a lot of time with them, but I'm always in the house too, so the three of them still fight for my lap and my help with everything. Is there anything I can do so that they are more loving towards him?
